MORE THAN 900 "HAYPOST" OFFICES OPERATE IN THE REPUBLIC 88 OF WHICH - IN YEREVAN

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 7, ARMENPRESS: October 9 is the international day
of Post. It has been celebrated since 1874 on the decision of the
World Post Union. Armenia accessed the Union in 1992.
Responsible for the information and public relations of the "Haypost"
company Gevorg Abrahamian told Armenpress that more than 900 offices of
"Haypost" operate in the republic, 88 of which are in Yerevan. The
company intends by the end of the year to reconstruct nearly 50
offices in Yerevan and 10 - in the provinces.
The process of reopening of the post offices will kick off October
9. On that day the post office of Masis town will be reopened.
The "World Post Union" is specialized UNO agency with membership of
191 states. The key objectives of the WPU are to develop the social,
cultural and trade communication as well as support to providing of
modern post services.
The Union sets international mail exchange rules as well as adopts
guarantees which aim to promote the increase of post volumes and
improve the quality of services provided to the clients.
The first post mark was created in England in 1840.
