WINNER OF NOBEL PRIZE IN LITERATURE ANNOUNCED

was the German writer Herta Muller, the Swedish Academy's permanent
secretary Peter Englund said.
Herta Muller was born in Romania. For a long time she worked as a
translator and teacher of German language, and in 1987 emigrated
from the country for her political beliefs. Since then, she lives
and works in Germany.
56-year-old Herta Mueller is an author of eighteen novels and stories,
a winner of more than twenty prestigious literary awards, among them
- Berlin, Dublin, Bremen's literature prizes, the prize of Graz,
the Kafka Prize, an award after Kleist and many others. Her books
were translated into more than twenty languages, including Chinese,
Turkish, Spanish.
Nobel Prize ceremony will be held in Stockholm and Oslo on the day
of the death of Alfred Nobel, December 10th.
