meeting was preceded by an extended meeting with participation
of Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers Edward Nalbandyan
and Elmar Mammadyarov, OSCE MG Cochairmen Yuri Merzliakov (Russia),
Bernard Fassier (France) and Robert Bradtke (USA), as well as Personal
Representative of OSCE Chair-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk.
Later, the presidents had a face-to-face meeting, after which they
were joined by foreign ministers and MG cochairmen.
During a three-hour meeting, the parties showed a constructive stance
to continue the talks on peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
Upon completion of the meeting, the cochairmen told journalists during
a briefing that the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan continued
discussing the issues on which they have not yet succeeded to reach
a consensus.
The cochairmen also said the talks are going on based on the Madrid
principles. They emphasized one again that the Karabakh settlement
process is in no way related to the Armenian-Turkish dialogue, and
these processes are running separately.
