October 8 Armenia and Azerbaijan held high-level talks at
U.S. Ambassador Residence in Chisinau, aimed on peaceful settlement
of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The meeting between Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan launched in
wide format with participation of two countries' foreign ministers -
Armenia's FM Edward Nalbandyan and his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar
Mamedyarov, the Co-Chairs of OSCE Minsk Group Yuri Merzlyakov (Russia),
Bernard Fassier (France) and Robert Bradke (USA), and Personal
Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk.
Then followed one-on-one meeting between President Sargsyan and
President Aliyev with further rejoin of Co-Chairs of OSCE Minsk Group
and foreign ministers.
During the three-hour talks the sides expressed constructive
willingness to continue negotiations on peaceful settlement of
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
At brief conference, hold after meeting, the Co-Chairs announced
that Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders' talk, based on principles of
international law and Helsinki Final Act, is ongoing with focusing on
issues which still have not reached the agreement. They also declared
that negotiations on Karabakh can no way be linked to Armenian-Turkish
dialogue as these are two separated processes with their completely
different logic.
