OBAMA'S POSITION ON ARMENIAN-TURKISH ISSUE REMAINS UNCHANGED: GIBBS

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs stated, in connection with
signing the Armenian-Turkish Protocols, U.S. President Barack Obama's
position on Armenian-Turkish relations remained unchanged.
Journalists reminded Gibbs that while senator, Obama had called the
1915 events against the Armenian people as being a Genocide during
his pre-election visit to Turkey, but during his visit as president
in April 2009 he avoided using the term Genocide.
Gibbs, however, placed importance to the fact that the US president met
representatives of both sides during his visit, in order to understand
their mutual interests, reports Russian news agency Itar-Tass.
The White House spokesperson confirmed once again that U.S. State
Secretary Hillay Clinton will attend the Armenian-Turkish Protocols
signing ceremony to take place this evening (local time) in Zurich,
Switzerland.
