Armenian and Turkish Foreign Ministers signed October 10 in Zurich the
pre-signed protocols on establishment of diplomatic relations between
Armenia and Turkey and development of bilateral relations between the
two countries
ZURICH, OCTOBER 11, ARMENPRESS: Armenian and Turkish Foreign Ministers
signed October 10 late at night in Zurich the pre-signed protocols on
establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey and
development of bilateral relations between the two countries.
At the signing ceremony present were US Secretary of State, Hillary
Rodham Clinton, the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, the
French Foreign Minister, Bernard Kouchner, the Slovenian Foreign
Minister and Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of
Europe, Samuel Zbogar, and the Secretary-General of the Council of the
European Union, Javier Solana.
Swiss Foreign Minister Micheline Calmy-Rey, inviting the parties to
sign the documents, said that it was possible to reach agreement
thanks to the efforts of the foreign ministers of the two countries
and thanked the them as well as former foreign minister of Turkey Ali
Babacan `for the important role they had for reaching this
achievement.' `Your political courage, efforts and vision of the
future made this all happen, she said.
After signing of the protocols no statement for press was made.
