    SERZH SARGSYAN HOPES THAT IMF WILL CONTINUE ASSISTING ARMENIA

    YEREVAN, OCTOBER 12, NOYAN TAPAN. RA President Serzh Sargsyan met
    with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Directors on October
    11. During the meeting the sides estimated cooperation between the
    RA government and IMF as excellent. The IMF officials emphasized that
    Armenia performed its duties excellently.

    Attaching importance to IMF's financial and advisory assistance to
    Armenia S. Sargsyan said that since independence IMF has also had
    much contribution to Armenia's economic progress. He expressed the
    hope that IMF will continue assisting Armenia, and Armenia is ready
    to continue the reforms and to expand the cooperation.

    The interlocutors exchanged thoughts over the problems caused by the
    global financial-economic crisis. S. Sargsyan presented the current
    economic condition, spoke about the impact of crisis and efforts
    exerted to overcome crisis consequences. Mentioning that difficult
    yet necessary decisions were made he said that they do their best
    to use the current abilities and financial resources as efficiently
    as possible.

    The sides attached importance to permanent and consistent work done
    in the direction of economic diversification, structural reforms,
    improving business environment. The IMF officials assured that this
    financial structure is ready to continue assisting Armenia as far as
    possible in overcoming Armenia's problems.

    According to a report by the RA President's Press Office, S. Sargsyan
    also presented the last developments in the Armenian-Turkish
    dialogue. The IMF Executive Directors said that IMF has always been
    for open borders.
