The inner political situation of the regulation of the Turkish -
Armenian relations would not be so difficult in Armenia if there
would not be the 27th of October, today said Vahan Shirkhanyan,
a member of the Hnchak Social Democratic Party of Armenia and the
former Deputy Minister of the RA Defense Ministry.
"Today without any doubt we can say who needed the 27th of
October. This was needed for making Armenia week and acquiescent in
order to oblige different solutions", - mentioned he and added that
in 1999 on November were suggested to exchange the Lachin region with
Meghri, and some other propositions which were directly connected to
the region of Armenia.
"Now the problem is to make the Ankara - Yerevan - Nakhijevan -
Baku railway. We are going for the solution of that problem by our
own will, which I think is intolerable. It will bring to a rapid
solution of the NKR issue in order to use the railway", - stressed
the former Deputy Minister.
According to V. Shirkhanyan the Armenian - Turkish protocols signed
on October 10 in Zurich endanger not only the recognition process of
the Armenian Genocide but also split Armenia - Diaspora ties. The
Speaker thinks that parallel with the regulation of the present
Armenian - Turkish relations the Armenian - Russian and Armenian -
Iranian relations will grow worse.
Speaking about the recognition process of the Armenian Genocide the
speaker mentioned that Armenia could demand from Turkey to accept the
fact of Genocide, as Ankara was already under the strong depression
of the EU and could agree to make that step to please the West,
but the Armenian authorities showing their good will lost that chance.
