    Oct 21, 2009

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 21, NOYAN TAPAN. Armenian Prime Minister Tigran
Sargsyan on October 21 visited the Youth Professional Orientation
Center under the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. The center
was established in 2007 for providing professional orientation advice
    to youth.

The prime minister met with the instructors and participants of
seminars conducted at the Center, the RA Government Information and
PR Department reported. Then he held a working consultation with the
participation of representatives of the state and private sectors. He
asked questions about progress of the Center's programs and discussed
the peculiarities of vocational education and professional orientation
    in other countries.

Speaking about the opportunity of satisfying demands of the labor
market, T. Sargsyan said: "You should study the market and try
to inform pupils about what specialists will be in great demand
in Armenia within the next 5 years". Stressing the importance of
interdepartmental cooperation, the prime minister noted that it is
necessary to establish contractual relations between the Center and
the Ministry of Education and Science. As regards the problem of
unemployment, he said: "Some structural problems exist in the labor
market: on the one hand we have unemployed persons, on the other hand
we have vacancies due to the lack of experts".

Responding to the questions of reporters, T. Sargsyan addressed the
reforms in the educational sector. In his words, state order should
be placed for those professions, which are considered to be in demand
    by the state.
