YEREVAN, OCTOBER 21, ARMENPRESS: First steps are being undertaken to
apply inner audit system in Armenia's state management sphere. For
the complete implementation of this reform 1-2 years will be needed.
Fifth three-day workshop for inner auditors of the public sector
kicked off today within the framework of PEM-PAL ("State Expenditure
Management-Initial Training Support") program. Representatives of
15 countries are participating in the event. The program is being
carried out with the support of the World Bank for development of
abilities in the public finances management sphere of European and
Central Asian countries.
The participants of the workshop discuss issues on development of audit
skills as well as issues relating to reforms in the inner audit sphere
of Armenia. The previous workshops of PEM-PAL took place in Slovenia,
Turkey and Moldova.
Head of the Armenian Finance Ministry's Purchasing Process Regulation
and Budget Implementation Methodology Department Karen Brutyan said
that those countries are participating in the workshop which have
successfully applied the inner audit system or are on the way of
doing it.
He said the goal of the meeting is first of all to get acquainted with
the international tendencies and issues in inner audit and the second
discuss the changes in Armenia through the exchange of experience
"not to repeat the mistakes of these countries and apply the system
more effectively." In Armenia the applying of the system is highlighted
particularly within the framework of European Neighborhood policy.
General responsible of the World Bank's Armenia and Georgia's financial
management Arman Vatyan said that as a result of applying inner audit
system it is expected to increase the efficiency of management of
