SHAYDULLIN: AKHURYAN RAILWAY STATION ON ARMENIAN-TURKISH BORDER TO BE OPENED IN ONE MONTH

    YEREVAN

YEREVAN, October 21. /ARKA/. Akhuryan Railway Station on
Armenian-Turkish border is to be opened in one month, South-Caucasian
Railways Director General Shevket Shaydullin said Wednesday in Novosti
    International Press Center.

South-Caucasian Railways has decided to establish a subsidiary -
International Logistic Center - for forming a system organizing swift,
high-quality and cheap shipment on most optimal route.

The center will be based on Akhuryan border station, which will be
    leased to the new company.

"I state officially that it will be possible to meet there and discuss
technological aspects of the terminal's work right in one month,"
    Shaydullin said.

He said that technologies are substantially changed in the station.

Checkpoints are being recovered, temporary depots of B category formed
    and railway tracks repaired here.

"Each depot has room for 70 cars, but it is necessary to take the
containers going to the Mediterranean", Shaydullin said.

Earlier, he said that 90 million Russian rubles would be targeted
for creation of an international logistic center on Armenian-Turkish
    border.

The South-Caucasian Railways CJSC is concession manager of the Armenian
Railway Company. South-Caucasian Railway, fully owned by the Russian
Railways Company, listed in its fixed assets the rolling stock of
the Armenian Railway on June 1, 2008, under a concession contract of
    February 13, 2008.

Armenian Railway has been handed over to the South-Caucasian Railways
CJSC for 30 years with a right for one-decade prolongation.-0--
