NEW CREDIT PROGRAM OF WORLD BANK IN THE AMOUNT OF $31.26 MILLION STARTED IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, October 22. /ARKA/. New credit program of World Bank "Quality
of education and compliance" in the amount of $31.26 million started
in Armenia on Thursday.
Head of World Bank Armenia office said that the program will focus
on pre-school and higher education unlike the previous credit program
of WB directed at the reform of general education system in Armenia.
"This program will strengthen cooperation between World Bank and the
Government of Armenia", said the head of WB office Varoudakis.
He said that for elimination of consequences of global economic
crisis in Armenia it is necessary to differentiate the economy of
the country, for which qualified specialists are needed. "System of
qualified education is the key to economic development", he said.
Varoudakis said that for the establishment of strong education system
and provision of quality it is necessary to have good management.
Cooperation between the WB and the Ministry of Education of Armenia
will continue. The first credit program of the WB and the Ministry
of Education of Armenia in the amount of $25 million started in June
2009. Total volume of resources provided to Armenia by the World Bank
since 1992 is about $1.3 billion for 54 programs.
