The 2nd international "Arevordi" ("SunChild") nature protection
festival launched yesterday, by the masquerade-marching. The
marching started from the Matenadaran. Around 500 young people were
participating with animal masks and animal dresses. They moved to
the square after Charles Aznavour.
The "Arevordi" nature protecting festival is organized and realized
by the fund of the wild nature protection and monuments preservation
of Armenia together with "VivaCell" company.
The children were giving flower seeds to the passengers and involving
them into the festival. The marching was accompanied by the music
and circus groups of children.
In the square of Charles Aznavour where the marching stopped were
placed the sculptures of endemic animals made of used bottles and other
used components. Here there were not only the huge, strange statues
but also the choir of the youth who was attracting the attention of
everyone by its music.
In front of the "Moscow" cinema there was put a red carpet for the
honored guests of the festival. On the solemn opening ceremony of
the festival which took place in the "Moscow" cinema Ashot Adamyan
the famous Armenian actor said words of greeting and reminded about
the nature protection problem in the world.
Greeting speeches were read by Ruben Khachatryan the director of the
fund of wild nature protection and preservation of the monuments of
Armenia, and the director of "Arevordi", Serzh Smesov the French
ambassador to Armenia and Ralf Yirikyan the chief manager of
"VivaCell-MTS" company.
"We forget to think about our fatherland and it's time to come out
from the deadlock mentality, to care about our fatherland and bring
up our children and to teach them the importance of protecting the
nature and the surrounding environment", - highlighted Ralf Yirikyan
and announced the opening of the festival.
