ARMENIAN TEAM IN 5TH ROUND OF CHESS TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP HAD A DRAW WITH FRENCH TEAM

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Armenian National Chess team in the 5th round of the
17th European Championship in the Serbian town of Novi Sad, ended in
a tie with the French team. Levon Aronian suffered his first defeat in
this match. Armenian grandmaster at the first board lost to the grand
master Etienne Bacrot. Gabriel Sargsyan compensated the lost point.
Vladimir Akopian and Tigran Petrosyan ended in a draw with Laurent
Fressinet and Feller Sebastien, respectively.
After five rounds of the Armenian team with 7 points in the asset has
moved from 7th to 9th place of the tournament table. The Azerbaijani
team became the individual leader, which, after the victory over
Georgia's national team, scored 10 points. The Russian team is at
the second place with 8 points, and the Georgian chess players,
also scored 8 points are at the third place.
In the sixth round the Armenian chess players will compete with Spain,
with grandmasters Alexei Shirov, Francesco Vallejo, Miguel Iyeskas
and Ivan Salgado.
