Yerevan, 27 October: The Armenian Defence Ministry come up with
an initiative to make amendments to the law on military service,
which will make it possible to reduce the facts of soldiers serving
in military units injuring themselves, Ara Nazaryan, the Armenian
deputy defence minister, told Mediamax today.
"If it is proven that [soldiers] injured themselves with the aim
of dodging military service, then the treatment period will not be
included in the term of military service, and soldiers will serve
this period after they recover," he said.
According to other amendments, draftees leaving the country for
permanent residency will be attached to Armenia's diplomatic mission
in the given country.
