At today's press-conference members of Initiative for Prevention
of Chauvinism (IPC) announced the ongoing works with the materials
of criminal cases on the mass ferocity and violence conducted in
Azerbaijan against Armenians in late 1980s.
"These cases will be put on public display. These materials can
shed light on many developments we didn't know about," said Tigran
Kocharyan, one of the founders of IPC.
IPC's representative Samvel Martirosyan who is responsible for
digitization, in his turn, said they had studied 36 parts of readings
of people survived then. "Work has just begun, site will launch
soon and will be continuously updated," he said adding that some
extra facts would be given to the world. In particular, Sumgait
events archive reveals participation of Azerbaijan's leaders and
authorities in organization of mass ferocity and violence against
Armenians in Azerbaijan.
Mass ferocity and heinous violence against Armenians who lived
in Azerbaijani Sumgait town left more than hundred people dead in
late 1980s.
