Today Khachik Galstyan, the press secretary of the head of Prosperous
Armenia Party Gagik Tsarukyan, has presented some possible ways of
further fate of the Armenian-Turkish protocols.
"There were several opinions on ratification of Armenian-Turkish
protocols: A - Armenia must be first in queue to adopt ratification,
B - Armenia will ratify after Turkey, and C - both sides together do or
don't ratify," said Khachik Galstyan. In his opinion the current phase
of Armenian-Turkish relations is a stage of open and clear relations
as both countries can take official steps and make official decisions.
"If we ratify ahead of Turkey, then Turkey will have an opportunity
to bargain demanding for a higher price than now. Thus, Armenia's
position to ratify after Turkey is a proper position although I do
not exclude the simultaneous process of ratification."
When asked in which case Prosperous Armenia Party may speak against
ratification, Khachik Galstyan said if any preconditions related to
Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and issue of Genocide appeared.
"We will vote against the protocols if something changes and we
really see that Turkey continues rhetoric. Those two items are key
issues for us," he said adding that in this case it makes possible
the withdrawal from the coalition parties.
