YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS: On the occasion of the Day of Science
the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan visited today the bordering
Syunik province and took part in the reopening ceremony of the newly
reconstructed #3 secondary school in the town of Kapan. Armenian
Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotian, Syunik Governor
Surik Khachatryan and other officials were present at the opening
ceremony. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan presented the school with
    laboratory equipments.

In his speech the President of the republic considered today's event
notable not only for the first grade pupils who enter a new stage
of life but also for the high grade pupils who must be able to chose
their future profession during the last year.

"Today's event is of course very important. It is right that sweet
words are addressed to the philanthropist, as the issues of education
and science are the issues of the state. Each state must care all
the issues connected with the education of the young generation",
    the President stressed.

"I want to assure you that the state undertakes all the steps within
its abilities to settle not only education and science but also the
other issues the society faces," the Armenian President stressed
wishing optimism without which it is impossible to achieve a serious
    result.

Nearly 18 000 pupils study in 1154 grades of 118 secondary and 3
special schools of the Syunik province. Three senior schools will
operate in the province for passing to the 12-year education and
    system of senior schools.

    >From the Syunik province the Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan left
for the Nagorno Karabakh Republic to take part in the events of 18th
    anniversary of the NKR independence.
