World Boxing Championship started in Milan, Italy. Armenian
national teal is represented by five sportsmen. Armenian boxers
Derenik Gijlaryan (51 kg) defeated Azat Usenaliev (Kyrgyzstan) by
the score 11:9, Eduard Hambardzumyan (64 kg) defeated Araya Frazer
(Costa Rica)-15:2.
On September 2, 2009 two other Armenian boxers will get in the
ring. Beijing Olympic Games bronze medalist Hrachya Javakhyan (60 kg)
will compete with Semen Bunarjiji (Bulgaria). Defending World Cup
champion Andranik Hakobyan (75 kg) will fight with Abdulrid Vahid
(Iraq).
