NEW U.S. CO-CHAIR OF OSCE MINSK GROUP APPOINTED

Former U.S. Ambassador to Croatia Robert Bradtke has been appointed
as new American co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group, a source in department
for the Europe and Eurasia at U.S. Department of State said.
"The United States understands the critical importance of achieving a
peaceful resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and hopes that
the appointment of Ambassador Bradtke will continue the peacemaking
policy and efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group," a source said.
Robert Bradtke is a career diplomat including in the sphere of
conflicts. Bradtke was involved in Balkan issues for long time,
the U.S. relationship with NATO and the OSCE from 2001 to 2004. He
and former U.S. co-chair Matthew Bryza served as Deputy Assistant
Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.
According to State Department spokesman, the Government of Azerbaijan
and Armenia have already been informed about Bradtke's appointment.
