Armenia
At his meeting with journalists today, Rafik Petrosyan, Council
member, Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), and representative of the
RPA parliamentary faction, commented on Raffi Hovhannisyan's decision
to resign as Parliament member. At the same time, he pointed out that
Hovhannisyan himself can explain the reasons.
"I can explain that, seeing that the Government is settling the issues
raised by him and is seeking to normalize relations, he may say:
'I have nothing to do...' On the other hand, he may think that the
Government, the President and the ruling party are mistaken, which
may have bad consequences for the Armenian people. He may say:
'I am washing my hands so that this blame not be laid on me',"
Petrosyan said.
As regards Khachatur Sukiasyan's motives for resigning from Parliament,
Petrosyan said that Sukiasyan himself explained his step: "The National
Assembly that gave consent to my arrest - I have nothing to do there."
