Unlike the Heritage Party, its parliamentary colleague ARF
Dashnaktsutyun stands against holding a referendum on the
Armenian-Turkish relations, as well as the necessity to discuss
the issue at the National Assembly, representative of the ARF Bureau
Hrant Margaryan told a press conference today. Neither the people, nor
the Deputies should bear the responsibility for the Armenian-Turkish
relations, he considers.
"The authorities have to assume this responsibility. I think it's not
even correct for the National Assembly to ratify the documents. The
referendum is also dangerous in the sense that unfortunately there
is lack of tradition of correct elections in our country, and this
is dangerous. I think laying the responsibility on the people and
the generations to come would not be fair," he said.
Dashnaktsutyun considers that today it's only the Foreign Minister
responsible for the current situation, and demands the latter's
resignation.
In general, ARF does not mind establishing relations with
Turkey. It stands against recognition of each other's borders and
the establishment of relations at the expense of the process of
recognition of the Armenian Genocide and recognition.
Hrant Margaryan sees a link between the Armenian-Turkish relations
and the Karabakh issue.
