ARMENIA-SPAIN BUSINESS FORUM KICKS OFF

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 9, ARMENPRESS: Armenia-Spain business forum kicked
off today in Armenian Development Agency the goal of which is to
promote direct ties between Armenian and Spanish businessmen, making
the economic relations between the two countries more effective as
well as introduce to the foreign businessmen investment opportunities
in Armenia.
Economy Minister Nerses Yeritsyan told the reporters that the trade
turnover between Armenia and Spain amounted to 8 million USD which
is essentially less as compared with trade turnover with other
European countries. The minister said there is a great potential
for development. Spain's economy is growing very quickly and is
quite diversified. Today here are businessmen from Valencia where
the technological products and construction are progressing which
is of interest for Armenia. "Naturally in conditions of crisis, all
the governments are supporting the businessmen of their countries so
that they enter foreign markets, have new opportunities, may manage
to preserve their positions. The meeting is of familiarizing nature
nevertheless arrangements will be reached over a number of programs,"
he said.
In response to the question with what Armenia may attract Spain,
Yeritsyan said that the trade volumes of Armenia and EU are quite
big and those products which Armenia exports to EU will have a great
demand in Spain.
Director of the Armenian Development Agency Robert Harutyunyan said
that representatives of construction, energy, tourism, industry,
telecommunication, IT, waste processing, renewable energy companies
participated in the event. In this round of discussions no investment
programs will be discussed.
Chairman of the Trade-Industrial Chamber of Spanish Castelion province
Salvador Marti Ughet and head of foreign trade department Joakin Andres
Sanches highlighted this meeting, pointing out that they believe in
the opportunities the Armenian market provides for them. "We are here
to increase the volume of trade ti Ughet said.
After the main opening ceremony Armenian and Spanish businessmen
had separate meetings with each other and presented in details their
services and products.
Within the framework of the visit to Armenia Spanish businessmen
had meetings in Armenia's energy and natural resources, economy,
transport and communication, urban ministries.
