COOPERATION AGREEMENT SIGNED BETWEEN ARMENIAN LABOR AND SOCIAL AFFAIRS MINISTRY AND UN ARMENIAN OFFICE

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS: Today a cooperation agreement has
been signed between the Armenian Labor and Social Affairs Ministry
and the UN Armenian Office. It was signed between the Minister Gevorg
Petrosyan and the UN permanent coordinator, permanent representative
of the UN Development Program Consuelo Vidal.
Within the frameworks of the agreement a number of professional
training courses will be held for the unemployed people registered
in the "State Employment Service" agency. The UN Armenian Office
will cover all the expenditures connected with the implementation of
training program and its control.
G. Petrosyan noted that as of August 1 the unemployment rate in the
republic increased by 0.7% over the indexes of the beginning of the
year. The unemployment rate continues to be high in the provinces,
particularly in Shirak, Syunik, Kotayk and Yerevan. Conditioned by
it the training courses intended for the unemployed people will be
held for 173 unemployed people of the mentioned provinces.
Already agreements have been reached with corresponding employers for
employing 72 of them. The spheres of crafts, services, agriculture
and information technologies are involved in the list of professions.
C. Vidal noted that they have selected the spheres the specialists
of which are of demand in the labor market.
"It is extremely important when in the conditions of the economic
crisis the UN refers to the issue of vulnerable groups including
the unemployed people. I am sure that our cooperation will give its
positive and notable results in the nearest future," C. Vidal said.
The Minister, stressing the importance of the initiative, noted that
it will become a precedent for implementation of suchlike projects
in the future, which have a serious importance in the context of
anti-crises events.
G. Petrosyan pointed out to the firm links between the Ministry
and the UN Armenian Office and no rsonal contribution to them. He
expressed gratitude to C. Vidal for the conducted work and awarded
her with the medal of the Ministry.
