ARF STARTING A HUNGER STRIKE TOMORROW

Only small traders are inspired by the opening of the Armenian-Turkish
border today, member of the ARF Bureau, head of the Dashnaktsutyun
faction of the National Assembly Vahan Hovhannisyan told a press
conference today.
According to him, real businessmen and producers are worried. The
Armenian Revolutionary Federation is also anxious.
The qualifier between the national football teams of Armenia and
Turkey is scheduled for October 14, exactly a month from today.
Exactly 14 days have passed after the Armenian-Turkish protocols were
publicized. However, unlike Turkey, Armenia holds neither political
consultations, nor serious discussions on the issue.
To destroy this wall of indifference, to launch internal political
consultations and inform the public about the possible dangers the
protocols contain, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation is starting
a hunger strike tomorrow, Vahan Hovhannisyan said.
According to some information, President Serzh Sargsyan is going
to discuss the Armenian-Turkish protocols with political forces on
September 17. Vahan Hovhannisyan said he backs such meetings, but
they are not enough.
"The protocols include preconditions, Let's seriously discuss and
explain our concerns," heads of the ARF faction said.
