ZHARANGUTIUN SENDS OFFICIAL LETTER TO RA GOVERNMENT WITH PROPOSAL OF SETTING REFERENDUM

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 16, NOYAN TAPAN. Zharangutiun (Heritage) party Board
Chairman Armen Martirosian and head of the parliamentary faction of
the same name Styopa Safarian sent an official message to RA Prime
Minister Tigran Sargsian on September 16.
They mentioned that as far back as on September 3 Zharangutiun
made a statement on the 2009 August 31 press release of the Swiss
Foreign Ministry, RA and Turkish Foreign Ministries and two initiated
protocols. In addition to 10 steps on Armenian-Turkish relations
considered expedient and aimed at revelation of state-public-political
attitude and views, the statement suggested before the final signing
and ratification of the protocols, in the coming month putting the
documents to referendum, accompanied by the issue of confidence in
the RA President responsible for the RA foreign policy.
"On behalf of the Zharangutiun party and faction of the same name we
apply to you to exercise the responsibility and right reserved for you
by the RA Constitution and RA law On Referendum, that is, to initiate
and in the coming month to hold a referendum aimed at revelation of the
public opinion on coordinated and initiated documents, which will be
accompanied by the issue of confidence in the RA President responsible
for the RA foreign policy," the letter to the RA Prime Minister read.
