begin on September 17. This year, a qualifying team for final round
is Romania's Timoshoaru which has two Armenian players - town brothers
Arman and Artavazd Karamyans.
After a draw ceremony, Romania's vice champion was included in Group
A together with Amsterdam's Ayax, Zagreb's Dinamo and Belgium's
Anderlekht.
Timoshoara will today play its first home match against
Ayax. Specialist find Amsterdam's team a favorite, while bookmakers
believe Romania's team to be an outsider. Chances for Timishoara and
Ayax teams' victory were rated 10 and 1.25 respectively.
"We know that Ayax is a strong command, and we are going to face a
hard game. But we have had a lot of difficulties on our way to this
tournament and want to prove that we do really qualify for European
League. We are a solid team, and if upcoming match is as successful
as the previous one we'll have real chances," Romanian team's official
Web site quotes Karamyan as saying.
Experience shows that bookmakers are always right. And their
predictions also proved true for Romanian team which beat Donetsk's
Shakhter in the 3rd qualification round of Champions' League. But in
subsequent 2 matches, Timoshoaru was defeated by Germany's Shtutgart
0:2.
