ArmInfo. VivaCell-MTS, a subsidiary of Mobile TeleSystems OJSC ("MTS" -
NYSE: MBT), announced opening of its doors for about 25 students from
three professional colleges from Armavir marz, within the Career Day
initiative organized jointly with the Junior Achievement of Armenia
(JAA).
The Career Day was organized to give students opportunity to combine
theory and practice within the educational program targeted to develop
their knowledge in the field of Economics and to get closer to their
future profession. The aim of the students' visit to VivaCell-MTS
headquarters was to familiarize them with the working style and the
business management specifics of Armenia's leading mobile operator, its
marketing strategies, and to find out more about technology used in the
sphere of cellular communication. "Promoting high quality professional
education of the young generation stems from our strategy of Corporate
Responsibility. Sharing knowledge and professional skills is what we
see as guarantee for a better future of our country. Investing in
children and youth is important for the long-standing goals of our
country: stimulating interest of young people toward applied science
and encouraging innovation. And in many ways our interests with
the Junior Achievements of Armenia coincide, which is the reason we
supported this organization in this initiative," stated VivaCell-MTS
General Manager Ralph Yirikian. The open door event began by a small
presentation of Company's latest achievements and operational systems.
The presentation was conducted by VivaCell-MTS General Manager
Ralph Yirikian who then introduced the students to Company's major
centers of operation - Service Center, where they were introduced
to the innovative queuing system and Call Center. The next site
was Core Unit with its Switch Section - the center of network
management. VivaCell-MTS General Manager taught the children about
how mobile communication is set up, how the signal is transmitted
and how connection is made between subscribers. After the lecture
was over, Ralph Yirikian encouraged questions from students, who
used the opportunity to get first hand information about 3G and GSM
technologies.
