Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received member of the House of Lords
in the United Kingdom, Chairperson of the British Armenia All-Party
parliamentary group, Baroness Caroline Cox.
By the September 16 decree of the President of Armenia, Caroline Cox
was awarded the Order of Honor for her significant contribution to
strengthening and deepening of the Armenian-British relations, as well
as for years-long relentless and dedicated humanitarian activities.
"This reward is a token of appreciation and gratitude of the Armenian
nation for all you have been doing," President Sargsyan said and added,
"We are always happy to host you in Armenia and we are proud to call
you friend."
The President of Armenia highly praised Baroness Cox's attention toward
the problems of the Armenian people, her assistance, warm personality,
and vigorous work.
According to Caroline Cox, any reward is honorable but for her it is
double honor to receive such a high state award in Armenia. She said
that this was her 69th visit to Armenia and each visit registers new
impressions, changes, and progress.
Noting that these days the normalization of the Armenian-Turkish
relations was the most debated topic and that in the coming day
discussions would be conducted in different formats, the President of
Armenia said that in the coming weeks he would be visiting a number
of large Armenian communities abroad to listen to the opinion of our
brothers and sisters in Spyurk on this issue of a paramount importance
for the entire nation. Serzh Sargsyan introduced to Baroness Cox the
Protocols on the normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations and
stressed that the negotiations did not contain any precondition. "This
is a very difficult, painful but at the same time necessary process,"
underscored President Sargsyan.
Baroness Cox inquired also about the latest developments in the
NK peace process, on which President Sargsyan provided detailed
information.
