PRESIDENT SARGSYAN DISCUSSES ARMENIA-TURKEY RELATIONS WITH MASS MEDIA REPRESENTATIVES

President Serzh Sargsyan met with more than thirty mass media heads
to discuss issues related to the current stage of normalization of
the Armenian-Turkish relations.
President Sargsyan told mass media representatives that he anticipates
an open and sincere discussion on the current stage of normalization
of relations with Turkey, attaching importance to their opinion both
as individuals with an active political position and as people who
shape public opinion. Serzh Sargsyan emphasized the importance of
participation and support of the societies of the two countries to
the process.
During the two-hour discussion the mass media heads presented their
opinion and remarks regarding the pre-signed protocols and exchanged
views on the possible risks and concerns.
President Sargsyan gave clarifications about the main issues of
the process.
He said "Armenia has entered a hard but necessary process." The
President views the pre-signed protocols as the first step towards
normalization of relations, which aim at creating a minimum
atmosphere, a platform that will allow launching a dialogue with
Turkey and discussing issues ranging from economic and political to
historical-cultural ones.
