No state official has approached the Dashnaks who have been holding
a hunger strike declared by the ARF for the past week. Ambulance
doctors also haven't paid attention to the strike participants.
As member of the Central Electoral Commission Hamlet Abrahamyan told
"A1+", they don't need medical aid because there are doctors among
the strike participants and they help the participants in case of need.
Former Minister of Health Norair Davidyan has also had his share of
the strike.
"Our other leaders will go on the hunger strike and we will be here
until October 13," said one of the Dashnak participants.
They rest assured that their struggle will be fruitful. These days
they have collected many signatures against the protocols.
"Yes, there must be preconditions in Turkish-Armenian relations, but
from our side. There should not be any border opening or diplomatic
ties with Turkey until Turkey doesn't recognize the Armenian Genocide,
the Treaty of Sevres and Karabakh's independence," said strike
participant Zaven.
One Diasporan Armenian women who had joined the petition said the
following about her position: "I was born and raised in Turkey and I
know how Turks are. That is why I don't want the border to open. When
Turkey enters Armenia, it will swallow Armenia whole."
Despite the rainy weather; over 100 people signed the petition today
and the final number of signatories will be released by the ARF
Supreme Body.
Isn't the rain "breaking" the strikers down? "No, we feel cold and
sick, but it doesn't break us down," say the Dashnaks who are sure
that their struggle will be effective.
But there is no change in the government's official position? In
response to this, one of the Dashnaks said: "If this doesn't work out,
we will think about taking other measures."
