    ARAM I APPEAL

    15:23:07 - 23/09/2009

www.religions.am web site published interesting information authored
by Narine Kirakosyan. The author writes in blagovest-info.ru web site
his Holiness Aram I the head of the Catholicosate of the Great House
of Cilicia addressed a letter to the Armenian leadership expressing
his concern about Serge Sargsyan's policy in connection with the
Armenian and Turkish relations. "The wave of concern in relation
to the Armenian and Turkish possible diplomatic relations embraced
the whole Diaspora. We are mostly worried with the issue of Genocide
perpetrated in the Ottoman Empire and with the Nagorno-Karabakh issue",
is said Aram I letter, that the author cites. Aram I calls on Serge
Sargsyan to hold wide public discussions with the participation of
the Diaspora. Aram I thinks that among the preconditions Turkey will
try to leave out the issue on the recognition of the Armenian genocide.

"Realizing the refinement of the Armenian and Turkish political debate
we believe the Armenian side has to be firm in connection with the
recognition of genocide. Realize, we are the descendants of those who
were killed, starved, persecuted, deported from their homeland and
we have no right to let forgetting it in political debates. This is
the reason why we consider purposeless the creation of any commission
which may dispute the fact of genocide. At the same time, we would
not like the Turkish side to accuse the Diaspora of intervening in
Armenia's things. Now, Serge Sargsyan is needed to disperse all the
doubts the Armenians from Diaspora have", writes Aram I.

Interestingly, a Russian site reports about the letter of the Holiness
Aram I the head of the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia
addressed to the Armenian leadership and there is no information
about this letter in the Armenian media.
