The results of the past eight months show that the economic downfall
reached 18.04%, which exceeded the expectations of Bagrat Asatryan,
ex-President of the Central Bank of Armenia, representative of the
Armenian National Congress. He predicts a 1.5-2% GDP decline in 2010.
This year the fall was more obvious in the fields of construction
and industry. Next year it will be felt in trade, Bagrat Asatryan says.
Speaking about the economic aspect of opening of the Armenian-Turkish
border, Bagrat Asatryan said Armenia will have serious losses in the
first stage. However, our country will gain in the global sense.
