TAOC 1The second world war never fails to be a constant inspiration to
filmmakers all over the world. A film that generated quite a fair bit
of buzz during this years Cannes film festival was The Army Of Crime.

Co-Written and Directed by Frenchman Robert Guediguan 'The Army Of
Crime' is about the fight and struggle for the basic human right of
freedom. The synopsis is as follows...

In German occupied Paris, poet and factor worker Missak Manouchian
leads a group of young Jews, Hungarians, Poles, Romanians, Spaniards,
Italians and Armenians determined to fight to free the country they
love, France, the cradle of human rights. Undercover, ricking their
lives, they become heroes. These foreign partisans bomb, attack and
harass the Nazis and their collaborators, provoking the wrath of
the French police, who assign ever more men to catch them, using
    double-agents, tip-offs, blackmail and torture... Twenty-two men
and one woman are condemned to death in February 1944. In a final
propaganda exercise, they are labelled the Army of Crime, with their
faces inset against a red background on a poster pasted on the walls
of every city in every country. These immigrants, who died for France,
    went down in history.

It's a very good story and should make for cracking cinema. The fact
that it is based on truth makes it even more interesting.

The official UK poster has been released along with the official UK
trailer which makes the film look quite tense.

'The Army Of Crime' is released in UK cinemas on 2nd October 2009. If
early indications are to be believed this should be one to watch.
