"The decision to hold the 19th congress of the 122-year old party in
the Homeland is a rather huge event," said adviser on social issues of
the Central Board of the Social Democratic (Hnchakyan) Party Ararat
    Lazarian to "A1+".

The party is holding its second congress in the Homeland since 1995
with over 70 delegates from Armenian-populated countries. Nearly all
political parties and the Armenian National Congress have been invited
to participate in the three-day congress.

Ararat Lazarian said that the congress will draw special attention to
the discussion on Turkish-Armenian relations, as well as internal
political issues and the party's activities in the political field.

Will the three conventional parties with more stereotypical positions
on the Turkish-Armenian relations hold protests together? In response
    to this, Ararat Lazarian said:

"We need to discuss such issues and the congress will show exactly
    what steps should be taken."

There are rumors flying around that the Hnchakyan Party has invited
Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Serzh Sargsyan as well. Ararat Lazarian
neither confirmed nor denied the rumors, saying that they have invited
both the leader of the Republican Party and First President Levon
    Ter-Petrosyan.

Will the Social Democratic (Hnchakyan) Party possibly become active
and go against the strategy of the ANC? Ararat Lazarian said that
rallies don't determine how active or passive a political party is.

Lazarian recalled the words of the First President when he said that
the Congress can't find solutions to catastrophic issues on its own
and called on all political parties to join the process.
