The RoA Academy of Sciences reports that at its general meeting held
yesterday, the issue of the normalization of Armenian-Turkish
relations was discussed and that the attending delegates voted in
favour of recent measures taken by the Armenian government in that
direction.
The Academy decision states that the policy of the Armenian government
designed to normalize relations with Turkey based on zero
preconditions and to extricate Armenia from the existing blockade can
only strengthen the geographical position of the country.
The Academy said it also supported the belief that the signed protocol
document served as a basis to continue that policy and that it was
confident that the RoA government would enter into diplomatic
relations with the primary aim of resolving important national issues.
Present at the meeting were RoA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and
Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan.
