Yerevan (Yerkir) - Artsvik Minasyan, a member of the ARF faction in
parliament, says that despite the attempts to downplay the ARF campaign
against the Armenian-Turkish protocols, people are getting more active.
"The ARF's position is clear and is voiced in the package of amendments
that we are proposing," Minsasyan told a news conference.
"Our fight is not against persons, it is aimed at thwarting the
threats the country is facing. When asked why the ARF is not seeking
the resignation of the president when it is the president who is
in charge of foreign policies, Minasyan said: "If the president is
willing to change the course, we are giving him that chance. At this
time we are telling him we want the course change." He added that
after the protocols have been ratified and after all the means of
fight are used, the party will use that means too.
Speaking of Turkey's second precondition on the Karabakh settlement,
Minasyan said our leaders have shown a significant compromise. "We
were considering the people's right to self-determination as our
only principle. Later on, the principle of territorial integrity
emerged. There is no mention of the self-determination principle in
this document."
