OFFICE OF ARMENIAN GENERAL BENEVOLENT UNION TO BE OPENED IN YEREVAN CENTER

YEREVAN, APRIL 1, NOYAN TAPAN. On April 1, RA President Serzh Sargsyan
received a delegation of the Armenian General Benevolent Union led
by Union President Perch Sedrakian. Greeting his compatriots of the
Diaspora he expressed satisfaction that every time they visit Armenia
with a larger and larger staff. "The more active you are the happier
we are," he said expressing readiness to assist and support their
initiatives and programs. S. Sargsyan granted RA citizen's passport
to AGBU Board of Trustees member Nazar Nazarian and his wife.
S. Sargsyan said he wants the office of one of the pivotal structures
of Diaspora, Armenian General Benevolent Union to be opened in Yerevan
center as soon as possible.
P. Sedrakian, in his turn, said that in the course of time Diaspora's
organizations should be centralized in Armenia. "Wherever we are our
main place is here," he emphasized.
According to RA President's Press Office, at the meeting S. Sargsyan
and AGBU representatives touched upon issues of preservation of
Diaspora's potential, strengthening of the homeland, Diasporan
Armenians' consolidation around national goals, preservation of the
Armenian spirit.
