"Crimes, committed in Maraga, Martunashen, and Artsvashen, are
genocide, which I consider must be declared loudly," said at today's
press conference member of ARFD, writer and a publicist Alvard
Petrosian.
On April 10 1992 Armed Forces of Azerbaijan attacked Maraga village
of Nagorno Karabakh and committed there a genocide, killing all civil
population of the village. Death toll of the Maraga Massacre reaches
90 people, 37 others were injured, of these 21 women and 6 children.
Alvard Petrosian stressed that it's unacceptable that issue of the
1915 Genocide is a subject for political dealing for certain nations.
"It should Jews be first who recognized the 1915 Genocide, not Uruguay;
actually, many Jews are recognizing the Genocide, while the state of
Israel has cynically turned the issue into a subject for bargaining,"
said Alvard Petrosian pointing that London maintains the same position
over the issue.
"It's unbelievable that at the background of fight for Artsakh
it hasn't been raised issue of Nakhichevan and deportation of its
Armenian population; some generations saw those crimes, aimed at
making the Armenian population away from these territories."
Alvard Petrosian said hopes presence of persons like Baroness Caroline
Cox of the UK will be "some more powerful gun, than the impersonal
the so-called humanism."
