April 6, the 37th Congress of International Federation of Human Rights
started in Yerevan welcoming 300 delegates from different countries.
Many Armenian human rights advocates boycotted the event and will
not attend. RA Ombudsman Armen Harutyunyan waved his right to deliver
a speech.
"The registration is still available, so everyone is welcome to sign
up," Iranian human rights activist and the Nobel Prizewinner Shirin
Ebadi stated commenting on the situation for NEWS.am.
Representative of Civil Society Institute (CSI) Artak Kirakosyan
said that only several advocates refused to participate. "It is their
viewpoint and we welcome any decision," he said.
