MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING MEMORANDUM ON NATIONAL INDICATIVE PROGRAM SIGNED

    Noyan Tapan
    Apr 6, 2010

YEREVAN, APRIL 6, NOYAN TAPAN. The National Indicative Program for
2011-2013 under the Eastern Partnership project was discussed at the
April 6 meeting of Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and the
delegation headed by Stefan Fule, Commissioner for EU Enlargement
    and Neighborhood Policy.

    T. Sargsyan expressed a high opinion about the program, which would
help with the implementation of reforms. He gave priority to the
establishment of democratic institutions and good governance. In his
words, this will reduce corruption and contribute to SME development
and more transparent activity of big business. The prime minister
also attached special importance to the signing of the deep and
comprehensive free trade agreement, which implies the implementation
of reforms in the next three years. The third priority direction is
the necessity to take measures on social and economic reforms and
sustainable development. It was mentioned that the indicated three
directions that form the basis of the National Indicative Program
proceed from the logic of the programs of the Armenian government.

    S. Fule said that the European Union is interested in socioeconomic
development of Armenia. He underlined that the formation of new
contractual relations between the EU and Armenia would enable to
revise and assess the programs implemented so far and to discuss the
possible ways of making EU-Armenia relations closer.

The RA Government Information and PR Department reported that after
the meeting the Armenian Minister of Economy and the Commissioner for
EU Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy signed a memorandum of mutual
understanding on the National Indicative Program for 2011-2013. Under
the Indicative Program to be approved by the Commissioner, in 2011-2013
Armenia will receive financial assistance of 157 million euros for
    cooperation with the EU.
