Participants of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH)
Forum, which is taking place at the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall
(Opera House) in Yerevan, are periodically coming out of the hall
to meet protesters in front of the building and to have friendly
conversations with those who have gathered upon an initiative of the
NGO Committee for the Protection of Political Prisoners.
Though the short break has already ended, the participants of the
conference do not want to leave the protesters and return to the hall.
"We have come here for you, justice should be administered. We are
standing beside you," FIDH Secretary General Luis-Guillermo Perez
told protesters.
"We would be very glad to see all the prisoners set free. We are
glad that you are fighting for your freedoms and for the freedom of
political prisoners," said Perez.
FIDH President Souhayr Belhassen, prior to entering the Opera House,
stopped for a couple of minutes with the protesters, kissed some of
them and stood next to them with her clenched fist raised in the air
while the protesters were chanting "Freedom!"
