7 April, 2010
Nicosia
Following the extensive repairs that the old Armenian Cemetery
underwent in the past years, the Armenian Prelature of Cyprus has
announced that in terms with the Diocesan Council's decision, a Divine
Liturgy and Memorial Service will be held in the Sourp Boghos chapel
of that cemetery on the Sunday following Easter.
10:00 am on Sunday, 11th April will mark the first time for almost
five decades from the time the chapel was used and almost eighty years
after the cemetery fell into disuse; the renovated chapel and its
environs will welcome the faithful, who will attend the Liturgy and the
subsequent "Merelots" Memorial dedicated to the souls of the departed.
The Prelature has also announced that no services will be held on that
day at Sourp Asdvadzadzin cathedral, and that all memorial requests
and "gdag" memorials will be conducted
