Mubariz Gurbanli Azerbaijan is ready to provide the world's highest
status of self-determination to Armenians living in Karabakh, a ruling
party MP said yesterday.
'Azerbaijan's position towards Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh
is clear. It has been openly expressed by the head of our state,'
the deputy executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party,
MP Mubariz Gurbanli, said in an interview with the party website.
He said that the president of Azerbaijan had emphasized several times
that Armenians and Azerbaijanis living in Nagorno-Karabakh would live
in peace and prosperity.
Mubariz Gurbanli said that if military operations were to resume,
Armenians in Karabakh who did not resist the armed forces and complied
with Azerbaijani law and internal controls would have no problems in
their continued residence in Karabakh.
'Azerbaijan conducts a transparent policy. The main purpose of our
state lies in the peaceful resolution of the conflict,' Gurbanli told
the website.
