ArmInfo. Aliyev's absence from the Global Nuclear Summit scheduled for
April 12-13 in Washington is the White House's first message to
Yerevan, says Aleksander Iskandaryan, Director of the Caucasus
Institute.
He told media no Friday that the US Administration does everything
possible to continue the Armenian- Turkish normalization, therefore
Washington will keep on pressing both the parties, especially Turkey.
"Nevertheless, the USA has no many levers of pressure on Ankara, so it
may ask Ankara for partial opening of the border with Armenia or
something like that." He said that the United States so far refrain
from stronger pressure on Armenia not to make Yerevan recall its
signatures put under the Zurich Protocols. "In fact, the USA strives
to demonstrate Armenia its clearance policy between the Karabakh
process and the Armenian-Turkish relations," Iskandaryan said.
President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and President of Georgia Mikheil
Saakashvili will represent the South Caucasus at the Global Nuclear
Summit on April 12-13 in Washington. President of Azerbaijan Ilham
Aliyev has not been invited to the Summit. President of Armenia has
already agreed to meet with Erdogan.
