We just received the following newswire from Armenia about the meeting
between the president of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the Prime Minister
of Turkey Recep Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The president of Armenia Mr. Serzh Sargsyan has left for the
Washington National Cathedra to lay a wreath at the tomb of U.S.
President Woodrow Wilson. President Wilson was a very good friend of
Armenia and advocated for the Armenian independence. In his vision
independent Armenia included three more provinces that are currently
in the territory of Turkey.
At the Washington National Cathedreal President Sargsyan spoke to the
members of the Armenian community and personally addressed the people
speaking about the earlier meeting with the Prime Minister of Turkey
Mr. Erdogan. He particularly said the following, which we translate
from Armenian.
"This morning I met with the Prime Minister of Turkey. Our position
has been and remains very straightforward. Turkey cannot speak with
Armenia and the Armenian people in the language of conditions. We
will simply not allow that. We are not preparing in any way the
question the fact of the Armenian Genocide, or to pretend that we
believe that Turkey can play any diplomatic role in the process of
finding solution to the problem of Nagorno Karabakh.
"Any news foreign policy is subject to temptations because we pass
through a path that no one has passed before. I am confident that
Armenia will pass this exam with honor."
