On April 11 evening, Speaker of the RA Parliament Hovik Abrahamyan
went on a 3-say official visit to Lebanon. The Armenian delegation
includes Head of Staff, RA Parliament, Gegham Gharibjanyan, the
Parliament members Vahan Hovhannisyan, Martin Sargsyan, Hovhanes
Margaryan, Araik Grigoryan, Armen Martirosyan and Vahe Enfiajyan.

The press service of the RA Parliament informed NEWS.am that Speaker
of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri met the Armenian delegation
    at the Beirut airport.

The two Speakers' private meeting was followed by a meeting of
    delegations.

Speaker Abrahamyan said Armenia remembers Mr. Berri's visit to Armenia
in 1997. Abrahamyan thanked Mr. Berri for underlining the importance
of the Nagorno-Karabakh people's right to self-determination during
his visit to Armenia. In this context Speaker Abrahamyan stressed
that Nagorno-Karabakh cannot be part of Azerbaijan.

The sides also discussed Armenian-Turkish relations. Speaker Berri
expressed hope that the bilateral relations will be improved. He
stated his readiness to contribute to the process.

Speaker Abrahamyan thanked the Lebanese Parliament for recognizing the
Armenian Genocide in 2000. He pointed out the importance of such steps
for preventing similar crimes in the future. "The Turkish parliament
is delaying the ratification of the Armenian-Turkish protocols,
trying to link the process to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem, whereas
the two processes have nothing in common," Abrahamyan said.

Hovik Abrahamyan and Nabih Berri signed a memorandum of understanding
between the Armenian and Lebanese Parliaments.
