The President of the Republic of Armenia attends the Groundbreaking
Ceremony for Future Dilijan International School of Armenia, a unique
education institution
Dilijan, Armenia - April 12, 2010 - A groundbreaking ceremony to mark
the beginning of construction of the Dilijan International School of
Armenia took place on the 9th of April 2010 in Dilijan in the North West
Province of Armenia, 90km from the capital, Yerevan.
This event represents an unprecedented initiative, the first of its kind
in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The founders of the Dilijan School project, Ruben Vardanian, Chairman
and CEO of Troika Dialog group, Russia's largest investment bank, and
his wife Veronika Zonabend received prominent guests amongst whom were
Serzh Sargsyan, the President of the Republic of Armenia, Armen
Ashotyan, the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of
Armenia and Armen Ghularyan, Governor of Dilijan Region, as well as many
friends and supporters of the project.
They were shown the architectural plans and told about the inspirational
vision for Dilijan School.
The President of Armenia symbolically planted the first of many trees in
the heart of the School Campus. It is envisaged that each major stepping
stone in Dilijan School's life will in future be represented by a tree.
Together with the area's natural beauty, Dilijan International School of
Armenia will with the planting and subsequent growth of further trees
symbolise the school's vision and values and reflect relationships
established early in life to form our networks for life.
Serzh Sargsyan, President of the Republic of Armenia commented on this
unique project:
"It is very important to have an educational center which meets modern
standards in Armenia, especially in this region".
About Dilijan International School of Armenia
Dilijan International School of Armenia will be the first top level
international boarding school in Armenia and CIS to provide a unique
harmonious education for girls and boys aged 13-18, merging two
excellences: the excellence of the world's best education system and
that of its location.
Dilijan in Armenia represents the perfect place for education with its
picturesque landscape, pleasant climate, unique ecosystem as well as
renowned hospitality, cuisine and deeply rooted family values of
Armenia.
The project is being realised by a multinational and experienced team
which includes an English architect, French, American, Russian and
Armenian managers, as well as an internationally prominent Board of
Trustees members each of who possess key areas of expertise. Moreover,
the majority of the professors will be recruited from overseas;
particularly from leading European countries.
The language of instruction will be English.
Dilijan School values individuals and believes in the power of
networking, which is one of the School's primary concepts. The School
will grow bright individuals capable of creating a better world by
establishing relationships that lead to networks for life.
The School is designed to accommodate 600 students from all around the
world.
Dilijan International School of Armenia is also strongly committed to
the protection of the natural environment and will thus use
environmentally friendly and renewable technologies in order to conserve
and preserve its location.
The School's opening is planned for September 2013.
