Dear Reader
*Burbank, California, April 12, 2010:* It is with immense joy that we
inform our Armenian faithful about the upcoming celebratory events
dedicated to the consecration of the long-awaited Mother Cathedral of
the Western Diocese in Burbank. His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme
Patriarch and Catholicos of all Armenians will hold his fourth blessed
visit to Los Angeles to preside over the celebrations and personally
conduct the consecration of the first-ever Cathedral of the Armenian
Apostolic Church on the West Coast of the United States.
His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western
Diocese, throughout the past few months has appointed several
committees to spearhead the preparations for the weekend celebrations
during September 11-12, 2010. "The Consecration of the Mother
Cathedral will be a historic event for the Western Diocese and its
faithful" said Archbishop Derderian. "His Holiness Karekin II,
Catholicos of All Armenians has graciously accepted our invitation to
visit Los Angeles to share our joy and bless our Cathedral and its
faithful who have been waiting for years to witness the realization of
this milestone".
The Cathedral Consecration and Vehapar's Visitation Committees,
chaired by Joseph Kanimian, Esq., Diocesan Council Chairman, have been
meticulously planning the details of the Consecration celebratory
events, starting with the welcoming of His Holiness, to the
Consecration ceremony, to the Holy Badarak and finally the Gala
Banquet.
The construction of the Mother Cathedral building is on track and is
expected to be completed by the end of June 2010. The Western Diocese
will continue to update its faithful with additional details of the
celebratory events in the coming weeks and months as we approach the
final stages of the construction project and prepare to welcome His
Holiness Karekin II to Los Angeles to conduct the blessed consecration
of the Cathedral.
The Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America, providing
spiritual guidance and leadership to the Armenian Apostolic community,
is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization comprised of more
than 50 churches in 16 western states. It was established in 1898 as
