ArmInfo. "US Armenian community has become one of the strongest links
in the issue of international recognition of Armenian Genocide. I am
sure the Diaspora will proceed with its mission. Armenian Genocide
recognition is inevitable", President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said
in the Washington National Cathedral after visiting the tomb of the
28th US President Woodrow Wilson.
According to S. Sargsyan, before signing of the Armenian-Turkish
Protocols, some people had concerns over the possibility for
Armenia-Turkey Protocols to impede international recognition of
the Armenian Genocide. "Time came to prove these concerns to be
groundless. Over the last months, we witnessed Turkey's failed attempts
at presenting Armenia and Diaspora as divided in their opinions. We're
here to disprove these hollow surmises. There are no separated Armenia
and Diaspora, but only a united Armenian nation", S. Sargsyan said.
When addressing the US Armenian community, the president emphasized:
"Being a community living abroad but instinct with the pain and
interests of Armenians, you are an insubmergible power: you are an
important constituent of Armenia's international political weight.
This is realized by both our friends and others. You prove, by your
stance and decisiveness, that the calculations, according to which
it is possible to disperse and destroy the Armenians scattering all
over the world, were erroneous. Every Armenian should become the drop
which wears away a stone. We are just on this way. The hangmen of our
people did not give us an alternative. We shall prosper, we shall break
through the stone of indifference, cynicism and duplicity. We have
enough patience, belief and purposefulness for that. Let me complete
my speech with the words of gratitude addressed to the country and
the people who gave birth to such figures as Ambassador Morgenthau and
President Wilson. We are grateful to this great and powerful country
which has a tangible role in the life of the Armenian people", S.
Sargsyan resumed.
